Students collect Rs. 86,000 in donation to charity School notes



Mimicry artist Nadir Shah inaugurating the musical programme “Geet Lehar” at Gregorian Public School in the city recently.

The students of SBOA Public Secondary School, South Chittoor, collected Rs. 86,050 as donation towards Help Age India, a charitable society. The amount was handed over to Shinu Antony of the society at a function held at the school on July 24.

Annual day celebrated: Global Public School, Thiruvaniyur, celebrated its annual day at the Fine Arts Hall on July 25. Over 150 students, including those who excelled in academics, who stood out for their impeccable conduct as also those who registered cent per cent attendance, were commended at the function. Sunil K Damle, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Naval Command, released the school magazine “The Journey.” Alka Damle was the chief guest. The melodious rendition of “The Time of Your Life,” by the 35-strong school choir group added to the charm of the occasion.

Music festival: Nadir Shah, mimicry and film artist, inaugurated a music fest, Geet Lehar, organised by the Gregorian Public School here on July 26. Twenty schools participated. Bhavan’s Vidyamandir, Girinagar, won the Lia Koshy Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy. Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, was the runner-up. Corepiscopa Baby Chamakalayil gave away the prizes. Jayaprabha Pradeep, principal, Fr. K.M. George, vice-principal, and Susan Xavier, headmistress, were present.

Wins Don Bosco trophy: Rinku. R of MES Udyogamandal School, won the elocution competition for the 12th Don Bosco Trophy. Anjali Krishna, Bhavan’s Vidyamandir, Elamakkara, and A.V. Venugopal, Bhavan’s Vidyamandir, Girinagar, secured the second and third positions. Fr. Kuriakose Pallikkunnel inaugurated the competition. Fr. Sebastian Ottaplackal gave away the prizes.
