Former V-C killed in accident

VILLUPURAM: Former Vice-Chancellor of Tamil University S. Agathialingam (79) died in a road accident at Kiliyanur near here on Monday.

The police said Agathialingam his wife A. Ponnammal (78) and granddaughter Latha (19) were travelling by a car driven by J. Jeeva Balan (39) from Chennai to Chidambaram. A lorry on its way to Tindivanam from Puducherry collided with the car, killing Agathialingam on the spot.

Ponnammal and Jeeva Balan died after being admitted to JIPMER Hospital, Puducherry. Latha is undergoing treatment. The lorry driver fled the spot.
