Top level changes at Bharti Enterprises

Sunil Mittal to head office of the Chairman and Group CEO

NEW DELHI: Bharti Enterprises on Tuesday announced strategic restructuring at the apex corporate level by creating an office of the Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to be headed by Sunil Mittal, while Rakesh Mittal and Rajan Mittal will be the Vice-Chairmen and Managing Director of Bharti Enterprises.

New structure

The new structure has been designed to strongly build emerging businesses as well as enhance empowerment to functions and developed businesses.

The restructuring has been done with primary focus on seeking growth opportunities, guiding businesses, securing financial health of the group, and growing and developing talent, an official release said.

While Rakesh Mittal will also be the co-chairman of the group’s philanthropic arm, Bharti Foundation, and enhance focus on social projects, Rajan Mittal has been elevated as Vice-Chairman and will focus on retail, cash and carry and realty business.

Akhil Gupta has also been elevated as the Deputy Group CEO and Managing Director of Bharti Enterprises.

He will take specific charge of the tower infrastructure business as the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Infratel, and also lead the financial services and the software business.

He will continue to be on the board of Bharti Airtel. Similarly, Manoj Kohli has been elevated as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Joint Managing Director of Bharti Airtel.

“With the new structure, we will engage functionally with our emerging businesses at a deeper level, empower the developed businesses, strengthen the interface mechanisms of Bharti with the businesses and leverage the group functions effectively” said Bharti’s Chairman and Group CEO Sunil Mittal.
