MUMBAI: Budweiser announced a three-year partnership with the Mahindra Mumbai Football League (MMFL) on Tuesday in the form of Man of the Match awards for league and play-offs, featuring 255 teams spread over eight divisions from Elite to Fifth.

Three Mumbai Elite division teams — Mahindra United, Air-India and Mumbai Football Club — figure in the I-League.

Main sponsor

Mahindra & Mahindra continues as main sponsor for the third year in a row, with Budweiser and Tiger Balm joining as partner sponsors, bringing the total prize money outlay to around Rs. 10 lakh for the season.

Budweiser’s football initiatives in India include sponsoring the Goa State team at the 2008 Santosh Trophy and the Budweiser 6x6 tournament, held in various cities across the nation with the winning team taking part in Budweiser Cup at Manchester United’s home stadium, Old Trafford. — Special Correspondent
