SBOA MHSS in final

Madurai: An unbeaten 65 by Gowthaman helped SBOA Matriculation HSS (Nagamalai) defeat American College HSS by 69 runs and enter the final of the Madurai district Boost Trophy inter-school cricket tournament here on Tuesday. It will meet Mahatma Montessori MHSS in the final.

Sivaram Harish’s all-round performance (95 and six for 21) helped KVS Matriculation HSS (Virudhunagar) defeat SRN GHSS (Thirumangalam) by 64 runs in a pre-quarterfinal match at Sivaksi.

The scores: At Madurai: (semifinals): SBOA MHSS 135 for two in 25 overs (Gowthaman 65 n.o.t, Vaidyanathan 34 n.o.) bt American College HSS 66 in 22.4 overs (Logesh four for 14); TVS LMHSS 102 in 20.4 overs (Abrar Essa three for 11, Sirish Kumar three for 33) lost to Mahatma Montessori MHSS 105 for nine in 24.4 overs.

At Sivakasi (pre-quarterfinals): Maharishi Vidyamandir (Rajapalayam) 93 in 22.2 overs (A. Karthik three for nine) lost to Jaycees MHSS (Sivakasi) 94 for nine in 16 overs (M. Satish shines

A fine knock of 98 by Sathish enabled Rainbow Cricket Club score an 85-run win over Vivekananda Seva Trust in the CDCA Golden Jubilee T20 cricket tournament for the Aircel Trophy at the SNR Sons College grounds in Coimbatore on Tuesday.

The scores: Dolphin CC 134 for nine in 20 overs lost to Suryabala Cricketers 135 for two in 15.2 overs; AET CC 61 in 15.3 overs lost to RKS Cricket Academy 62 for one in 9 overs; Rainbow CC 220 for seven in 20 overs (Sathish 98) bt Vivekananda Seva Trust 135 for six in 20 overs (Jishnu 45); Jolly Rovers CC 166 for six in 20 overs bt SNR Sons College 99 for nine in 20 overs (Karthikeyan four for 21); CIT College 126 for five in 20 overs lost to Tirupur CC 127 for three in 15.3 overs; Coimbatore Friends CC 146 for seven in 20 overs (Praveen Edward 44) bt R.S. MDC-Vivekananda College final

Madurai District Club will meet Vivekananda Arts and Science College, Tiruchengode, in the final of the Winning XI Women’s Hockey Club State-level tournament on Wednesday.

In the semifinals played on Tuesday at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Madurai defeated Punitha Arogya Hockey Club, Keeranur, 2-0, on goals from Jennifer and Rasna.

Vivekananda Arts and Science College, Tiruchengode, beat Nazareth Club by an identical margin with Gayathri scoring a brace.
