JAIPUR: “Aapni Yojana” – an ambitious scheme fetching Himalayan waters to desert areas in northern Rajasthan – is set to benefit all 85 villages in sparsely populated Churu district. The scheme supplies drinking water to public taps with the help of village-level water users’ committees. Churu Collector T. Ravikant, who visited the Birmi and Niradhnu head works of the scheme on Monday, said Bisau town and 49 villages in the district were at present getting water and attempts would be made to extend the scheme to the remaining villages as soon as possible. Mr. Ravikant noted that the residents of several villages were not getting water because of lack of cooperation by the committees.
