Aditya Prakash and Jaqueline triumph

Bangalore: Aditya Prakash and Jaqueline Kunnath won the boys’ and girls’ under-19 singles titles respectively in the Ramaiah Rajan Memorial State-ranking badminton tournament at the Canara Union courts here on Tuesday evening.

Girls: Under-10: Ashwini Bhat bt Archana Pai 21-12, 21-10. Under-13: Reshma bt Priya 20-22, 22-20, 24-22. Under-16: Uttara Prakash bt Poorvisha 21-19, 23-21. Under-19: Jaqueline Kunnath bt Uttara Prakash 21-12, 21-19.

Neelkanta rallies to win

H.S. Neelkanta had to dig into his reserves to get the better off of B.R. Krishna to win in five hard fought frames in the 39th Senior State-ranking snooker qualifying round at the KSBA hall here. Neelkanta won 51-25, 56-64, 55-22, 40-47, 55-24.

Inter-school athletics

The Bangalore Sports Club will conduct its annual 9th KPMG Bangalore City inter-school athletics championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium from September 4 to 6.

The meet will be held for schoolchildren in the under-8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 categories. Entry forms available with S. Krishna Murthy, Jt. Org. Secretary should be duly filled and submitted on or before August 25.

RPUC ‘B’ posts win

Rosario Pre-University College ‘B’ (Mangalore) scored a 3-1 win in the tie-breaker over Gokarnanateshwara College (Mangalore) in a PUC fixture in the Independence Cup football tournament, here on Tuesday.

Neha sparkles

Bishop Cotton’s ‘A’ riding on N.S. Neha’s four goals (including a hat-trick — 23rd, 27th & 33rd and 34th) scored a thumping 8-0 victory over Sacred Heart High School in the Tanvi Rao memorial inter-school girls’ hockey tournament here on Tuesday. R Vaishnavi (14th & 39th) scored a double and Mahira Alvares (4th) along with Tenzin Buti (36th) added to the winner’s tally.

Earlier in the Allan Macbride tournament for boys, St. Joseph’s Boys HS eked out a narrow 1-0 win over St. John’s with Arsha Usman Kumar scoring the winner.

East Zone posts win

East Zone defeated ABSC (Delhi) 3-0 in the Sports Authority of India (Sr) inter-hostel hockey tournament here on Tuesday.
