BHUBANESWAR: The Prafulla Kar Foundation, established last year to preserve and promote the legacy of eminent Oriya musician Prafulla Kar by his fans, organised ‘bansadhara’ - a musical evening with the kith and kin of Mr. Kar – at Jayadev Bhawan here recently. Mr. Kar had scored music for 70 films and directed eminent playback singers like Yesu Das, Kishore Kumar, S.P. Balsubramanyam, Vani Jairam, S. Janaki, Usha Mangeskar, Kavita Krishnamurty, Suresh Wadkar, P. Sushila and Chitra. The event was hosted in memory of the late legendary tabla maestro Kshetra Mohan Kar, paternal uncle of Mr. Prafulla Kar. Besides him, his son and singer Mahaprasad Kar, cousin and eminent tabla player Umesh Chandra Kar, music composer Goodley Rath, Subas Kar, Nijhum Kar, Prabhabati Rath, Alaka Rath, Indira Nanda, Santanu Rajguru and Sanjay Mishra participated in the concert. Eminent litterateur and Foundation chairman Das Benhur presided while Foundation secretary Choudhury Amitav Das elaborated the objectives of the organisation. A large number of singers and musicians were present on the occasion.
