“Congress tired of asking for posts”
Staff Reporter
E.V.K.S.Elangovan
ERODE: The Congress is tired of asking for a share in the Tamil Nadu ministry, Union Minister of State for Textiles E.V.K.S. Elangovan has said.
Addressing journalists here on Tuesday, he said after placing repeated demands with the DMK leadership, the Congress was tired and the posts had become sour grapes.
To a journalist’s question on the demand by a few congressmen to revive the Tamil Manila Congress, Mr. Elangovan said the current Congress leadership in the State should convene a meeting of office-bearers. That the meeting had not taken place to date was a cause for concern, he said, and added that State Congress president K.V. Thankgabalu should immediate convene the meeting and delegate responsibilities to office-bearers. Also, vacancies should be filled.
On Karnataka raising objections to the Hogenakkal drinking water scheme, Mr. Elangovan said it was typical of the Bharatiya Janata Party to flame fissiparous tendencies. He added that he was hopeful that Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi would protect the State’s interests.
The Minister said works to the tune of Rs.75 crore were taken up in his constituency during his current term.
Modakurichi MLA R. M. Palanichamy and other Congress members were present.
