‘Speed up work on Geeta Colony Bridge’

NEW DELHI: Delhi Finance Minister A.K. Walia and Public Works Department Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan on Tuesday inspected the ongoing work at the Geeta Colony bridge across the Yamuna. They directed PWD engineers and officials to speed up its construction so that an alternate route could be made available to de-congest the ITO Chungi crossing where traffic jams are occurring due to ongoing construction of an underpass.
Both the Ministers expressed concern at the delay in construction of the bridge. They said the Rs.90-crore bridge should be constructed expeditiously as it would provide a direct link between East and Central Delhi. They said due to the delay in its construction, the Disused Canal Road was also not being utilised properly.
