Court plea on child marriage

NEW DELHI: A Division Bench of the Delhi High Court on Tuesday requested the Chief Justice to constitute a Full Bench to decide whether a child marriage could be declared void. The Division Bench comprising Justice Vikramjit Sen and Justice V.K. Shali referred the matter to the Chief Justice in view of earlier judgments by various Benches of the High Court where minors were allowed to stay with their spouses.
“We are of the view that a question of public importance is involved in the matter which needs consideration by a Full Bench,” the Bench said.
