‘She should do some honest introspection’ NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra, Leader of the House in the MCD Subhash Arya and MCD Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta on Tuesday charged that Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was needlessly criticising the civic body’s working and overlooking its achievements in various fields out of sheer political considerations. Addressing a joint press conference, Ms. Mehra said: “It is rather surprising that the Chief Minister has been making demeaning statements in the media in respect of the MCD. It is high time she and her government did some honest introspection.” Criticising the Delhi Government’s performance in providing basic infrastructure services such as water, roads and public transport in the Capital, Mr. Gupta said: “Despite the negative and non-supportive attitude of the Delhi Government, the MCD has earnestly pursued public welfare measures and made major achievements during the past one and a half years of the present regime.” “Be it our effort to provide relief on the sealing and demolition drive or our achievements in the field of property tax, information technology, engineering, health, advertisement, parking or education, the MCD has endeavoured to provide better services to more than 150 lakh citizens through a people-friendly approach,” he added.
