Chamalapura project on hold

BANGALORE: Sources in the State Energy Department told The Hindu that the controversial Chamalapura thermal power project has been put on hold.
However, they hastened to add that the “project is yet to be scrapped.”
An official decision on whether to scrap the project is yet to be taken, they noted.
They said the project, which was proposed to be set up in Mysore district, had been put on hold for some time from now in the wake of severe opposition to the project from local residents and environmentalists.
