ESI to start 5 nursing schools in State

HYDERABAD: The Insurance Medical Services Department that runs ESI hospitals and dispensaries has decided to start five nursing schools in the State.

The new schools will be set up at Sanatnagar, Nacharam, Ramachandrapuram, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam keeping in view the demand for nurses in hospital services. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy at a review meeting with officials on Wednesday also approved the proposal of ESI Corporation to upgrade the Sanatnagar ESI hospital from present 310 to 500 beds, Ramachandrapuram from 68 to 100 and Tirupati hospital 50 to 100. Dr. Reddy welcomed the Centre’s decision to extend corporate hospital treatment to ESI members without any ceiling on the charges. Under the scheme, 7.45 lakh employees are insured covering their 45-lakh family members.
