Bangalore: The city police are still clueless about the source of Rs. 9.8 crore cash, which was seized from an apartment on Tuesday. Senior police officials said that neither any one has come forward to claim the money nor are there any records to prove to whom the money belonged. The J.C. Nagar police on Monday seized Rs. 9.8 crore cash from the flat of an estate agent in Benson Town on a tip-off. RaidThe police, who raided the apartment, seized 10 bags and suitcases containing cash. It is said that it took the police nine hours to count the money. Two persons — Syed Tamiz Hisham and Syed Aslam — who were arrested in this connection — have been remanded in judicial custody, according to the police. The accused, the police said, claimed that the money belonged to a top official of a pharmaceutical company. They also claimed that the official sold his property in Mumbai recently. The sources said that the money was drawn from three banks at Andheri in Mumbai. InvestigationMeanwhile, the officials of the Income Tax Department and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence are also investigating the case.
