The government had a day after its July 26 notification placing the ISI under the “administrative, financial and operational” control of the Interior Ministry clarified that this had been misunderstood. It said a detailed notification would follow. Late on Tuesday, the Cabinet Division of the government issued the following notification: “The prime minister is pleased to direct that the federal government will carry out further deliberations on coordinating the intelligence efforts. “ Till the completion of these deliberations, the cabinet division’s memorandum dated July 26, 2008 is held in abeyance.”
