IGNOU courses at KBN College

VIJAYAWADA: KBN College will make available the courses offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), said Principal V. Subhashini on Thursday.

The courses that the IGNOU is offering under ‘convergence scheme’ would be offered in the college in tune with the changing educational trends, and to increase the chances of employability of students.

Ms. Subhashini said if a student acquired a degree or diploma or studied a certificate course from the IGNOU in addition to the conventional degree, he or she would stand a better chance to get a job. The convergence scheme allows students pursuing Intermediate or Degree to acquire a parallel degree or diploma.

Post-graduate students too could study another PG course or diploma. The offer was limited not just to the students of KBN College but to students of other colleges as well, she said.

Diploma courses

The diploma courses of the IGNOU offered by the college are Diploma in Creating Writing in English, Diploma in HIV and Family Education and Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education.

The certificate courses on offer are Certificate in Food and Nutrition, Certificate in Laboratory Techniques, Certificate in HIV and Family Education, Certificate in Environmental Studies, Certificate in Computer and Certificate in Nutrition and Child Care.

Ms. Subhashini said contact classes for these courses would be offered both during morning and evening and during the weekends.

For more details, course coordinator T. Bhagyakumar could be contacted on 9390854548, she said in a statement.
