‘TDP only party to recognize BCs’
Correspondent
Chittoor: The Telugu Desam Party was the only party which recognised Backward Classes and passed a resolution, when in power in the year 1996, reserving 33 per cent posts of MLAs for them alleged Yanamala Ramakrishnudu polit bureau member. He claimed that the party forwarded the resolution to the Centre for further action but it was ignored by the then Congress government in power.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday he alleged that the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has announced reservation of 33 percent post of MLAs for Backward Classes keeping in view the coming elections.
Replying to a question, he said that the workers were solidly with the party though some leaders left it to join in other parties such as the party being launched by film star Chiranjeevi.
Suspension of MP
Referring to the suspension of the MP, D.K. Adikesavulu, from the party he said that it was the decision of the party president and there was no use of his blaming others for the incident. The party will certainly come to power in the coming assembly elections he asserted.
