Plea to consider Gulf returnees

Kozhikode: The members of the Pravasi Bharathi Confederation, a consortium of various non-resident Indians (NRI) associations, have called upon the State government to consider gulf returnees also while issuing identity cards to NRIs.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the confederation members said a considerable number of Gulf returnees were spending a hapless life back home.

Lauding the government’s decision to issue identity cards to the NRIs, confederation chairman Suresh Periyattil said that a good number of people, who once toiled outside our country, were now leading a miserable life back home without having any means of a livelihood.
