Participating at a meeting organised to review various programmes being implemented for minority communities in the district recently, he said that the scholarships provided by the Central and State governments had enabled the poor students from minority communities to pursue their school and higher education.

The governments provide pre-matric and post matric scholarships.

A maximum of Rs. 25,000 per year is being extended as financial assistance to students pursing professional courses including engineering and medicine.

Educational loan is being provided at low interest rates.

Students should take full advantage of these schemes and continue their education to improve their quality of life, he said.

In Namakkal district, a total of 10 students were given a sum of Rs. 2.80 lakh as scholarships in the current fiscal.
