ST status for potters sought

Kota: The Rashtriya Prajapati Mahasabha (RPM), an association of potters, has sought Scheduled Tribe status for the kuhmar (potter) community in Rajasthan.

In a memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh through Kota district collector, the RPM has demanded their inclusion in the ST list, its national secretary Baboolal Rainwal said on Thursday.

It also sought special loans for the community’s students to take up higher education.
