MYLAVARAM (KADAPA DT.): The State government is neglecting core issues like education, health but was paying attention to superficial issues to satiate the Congress’ hunger for publicity, Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Thursday. Power crisisLack of foresight of the Central and State governments plunged the power and agricultural sectors in crisis, Mr. Naidu alleged at a press conference at Mylavaram on Thursday. Irrigation projects built upstream were utilising the available water and hence projects built in the State were not getting water, he said. Irrigation project works were sub-standard and there was no third party control or proper supervision due to non-filling of substantial vacancies in the Irrigation Department, Mr. Naidu alleged. The state of affairs was such that contractors prepared estimates, executed works in a sub-standard manner and got bills passed, he alleged. He asked whether contractors would pay attention to profit-making or render social service. District TDP president S. Raghurami Reddy, MLC M. Venkatasiva Reddy, former Ministers P. Ramasubba Reddy and S. Saraswathamma, TDP ticket aspirant for Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency P. Srikanth Reddy, State secretary S. Goverdhan Reddy, district vice-presidents S. Subhan Basha and M. Venkataswamy Reddy participated.
