To maintain peace: Police scuffle with students in front of the Coimbatore Collectorate on Thursday. — COIMBATORE: The police on Thursday caned a group of students at the Collectorate when they tried to enter the venue of a meeting presided over by Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudi. The Minister was holding a public hearing on the proposal to upgrade PSG College. There was an argument over the number of persons to be allowed to appear before the panel. A group of law college students tried to make their way to the first floor of the District Development Council where the panel was holding the hearing. The police prevented them from entering the meeting and this led to a scuffle.
