BANGALORE: The Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) has entered into an agreement with three American universities for taking up international collaborative research in veterinary sciences.

Disclosing this at the inaugural session of an international conference, organised jointly by the university and veterinary college here to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of the college, KVAFSU Vice-Chancellor Suresh S. Honnappagol said the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) had been signed with the Universities of Perdu, Kansas and Minnesota. These agreements provide for sharing research work and students’ exchange programmes, he noted.

Prof. Honnappagol appealed to the Government to provide more funds to the university to build infrastructure, which was needed for improving the rural economy.

At present, the university staff had managed to provide some kind of infrastructure by bagging various externally-sponsored projects which ensured availability of funds to the tune of Rs. 11 crore.

The university had decided to encourage its staff to get more of such externally-sponsored projects.

Former Vice-Chancellor of the university R.N. Srinivasa Gowda, who is also chairman of the golden jubilee celebrations’ committee, said this international conference was part of the several such programmes being held to mark the event.
