Big bangle from TATA stable

Big is beautiful: World’s biggest bangle unveiled at the Tata Goldplus showroom in Erode on Thursday. –

ERODE: The Big Bangle has come with a big bang. TATA GoldPlus on Thursday unveiled, what they termed, the biggest bangle ever manufactured at their Erode showroom.

With 1,829 mm as diametre, 140 mm as width and 24,505 gm as weight, the lustrous bangle, built on four 22-carat rings, has a design, which according to the GoldPlus managers, “is symbolic of TATA’s core values of trust and transparency, customer focus, honesty and innovation.”

L. R. Natarajan, vice-president, TATA GoldPlus, said it took the 21 days of round-the-clock work to complete the bangle. He said through the bangle, the TATA GoldPlus wanted to make a statement about their jewellery business. The TATAS, known for their trust and honesty, brought the same values to the jewellery industry, which according to a study provided 90 per cent of the customers with inferior quality jewellery.

Quoting a study conducted by CII, Bureau of Indian Standards and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Mr. Natarjan said the under caratage varied from 12 per cent to 36 per cent.

Arthy Muthanna Singh of Limca Book of Records said the bangle would make it to the 20th edition of the book to be published in 2009. Managing Director of Sakthi Masala Santhi Duraisamy, GoldPlus’ Erode franchisee T. Swarna Ganesh were among those present on the occasion.
