Chamling seeks help in urban development

NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Urban Development S. Jaipal Reddy has assured Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling that the Centre will provide all necessary help and assistance for the development of urban amenities and infrastructure in the State.

Dr. Chamling called on Mr. Reddy during his visit to New Delhi.

He thanked Mr. Reddy for expeditious consideration of the important proposals of Sikkim that have contributed to the accelerated development of the State in urban development.

Dr. Chamling also urged the Minister to allot a suitable plot of land for construction of an additional Sikkim House here for the benefit of visiting officials/people from Sikkim as the existing New Sikkim House at Panchsheel Marg, Chankyapuri that was allotted nearly 30 years ago and has only 32 rooms, was not in a position to cater to the present day requirements.

Mr. Reddy told him that his Ministry would consider his request.
