One-way rules: fewer accidents in Bangalore
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: The number of accidents in Bangalore has come down by about 40 per cent within a few months after introduction of the one-way traffic system, said Additional Director-General of Police K.V.R. Tagore.
Releasing a book titled Accidents written by Nandidurgada Balugowda here on Wednesday , Mr. Tagore said that there was a need to develop proactive measures to bring down the accidents.
“The roads in Bangalore have the capacity to carry 10 lakh vehicles only but they carry 35 lakh vehicles,” he said.
He urged Labour Minister B.N. Bachhe Gowda to discuss in the Cabinet about the introduction of the Intelligent Traffic System (ITS), which he believes will bring down the accidents.
