K-1000 rally from today

BANGALORE: The K-1000 motor rally will be flagged off from the Jaymahal Palace Hotel here on Friday. The prestigious event, which is in its 34th edition, has attracted a strong starting grid of 51 cars.

The rally is expected to be very competitive with five cars from Team MRF (including one in the 1600cc category), two cars from Red Rooster Racing and one from Team JK.

With the arrival of the top teams, the spectre of uncertainty has been cleared. However, an issue that may affect the rally is the permission to run the Super Special Stage on Sunday.

The officials of the Karnataka Motor Sports Club (KMSC), which is conducting the rally, have been making frantic efforts to get the clearance from the State Government to hold the Super Special Stage at the Palace grounds but not got the clearance yet. — Special Correspondent
