It’s a cosy ride for few
Political scientists would say that governments are mostly reactive and not proactive.
People are lucky if the government is proactive; they are fortunate if the government reacts, at least when some faults are pointed out.
But if the governments are inactive, people can only curse themselves.
Take the case of the city roads. A majority of the main thoroughfares as well as the internal roads look worse than the roads in war-ravaged Kabul roads. Yet, the departments concerned appear to be in a cosy and deep slumber. Despite every newspaper publishing pictures on sorry state of affairs and reports on how people are suffering, there is no response from any of the agencies and also the elected representatives too did not appear to notice them.
“We now understand why these top officials and elected representatives travel in huge SUVs. The powerful shock absorbers would not let them feel the bumps.
It’s cosy ride for them and they can not even here the Hyderabadi epithets hurled at them, because they always drive with their windows rolled up,” commented a scribe on why officials and politicians do not respond to public outcry.
Well! There appears to be some truth in it.
