Of rain and traffic snarls
The incessant rains has brought cheer to Hyderabadis, but troubles aplenty to traffic police! Police bore the brunt of irate commuters following water logging on the busy stretches, which brought the vehicular traffic to a grinding halt.
Motorists were caught in traffic gridlock for more than two hours at Begumpet, Ameerpet and Khairatabad due to sudden downpour.
Though repairs to drains and desilting of nalas were carried out before the onset of monsoon, there seems to be little impact. In some areas, Home Guards opened covers of drains to unclog and in the process allow the rain water to flow freely.
Is there any solution to this problem of perennial proportions?
