THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: What do Radio Jockeys do best? They talk; incessantly at that. But has any RJ gone on a ‘talkathon’ for 92.7 hours? Brace yourselves, for that is precisely what RJ ‘Kidilam’ Firoz of the Big 92.7 FM radio channel is preparing to do. At 9.27 a.m. ( when else?) on August 8 Firoz would go on air and would remain on air for the next 92.7 hours presenting various programmes. In fact, the word is that he would try and keep his vocal chords going for 107 hours. A channel spokesman claimed that if the 107-hour mark is breached, it would be a Limca Book of Records achievement. The channel would be standing by with medical assistance, food, energy drinks and a steady supply of well wishers. Celebrities too have been lined up to cheer on this ‘Radio Olympiad.’ The RJ is reportedly gearing up for this feat by undergoing fitness sessions, yoga and meditation sessions to ensure the “highest levels of patience, commitment and focus,” a pressnote issued by Big FM said. But why, in the first place, this talkathon? This is Firoz’s way of fighting the drug menace in Kerala. Moreover, this is the Olympic season, a time for breaking/setting records.
