A ‘powerless’ existence
Post summer, the State was rudely shaken out of its AC-induced slumber thanks to the acute power crisis caused by reduced inflows into Srisailam reservoir.
Duration of power cuts in the city saw a quick ascent up to three-and-a-half hours a day, while for rural areas, it was almost a ‘powerless’ existence. What perturbed citizens more was the reticent attitude of the power authorities on the power cuts. They announced the load relief schedule only after consistent campaign by the media.
Even after that, they resorted to unscheduled load reliefs as and when need arose, never as much caring to explain the reason to the public.
A few areas in the outskirts experienced unscheduled power cuts during night regularly even after the Chief Minister’s instructions against the same.
Except for a few press meets organised at cabinet level, the department did absolutely nothing to reach people with their predicament.
The whole establishment of APGENCO-APTRANSCO-DISCOM displayed glaring lack of internal coordination. Officials of each wing were completely in dark about the affairs of the other two wings.
