When policemen don greasepaint
Staff Reporter
KOCHI: The play is 15 stages old and still going strong. Not a simple achievement, given the fact that policemen involved in daily law and order maintenance has been doing this play.
Now Nammal Onnanu, a street-corner play by the Kochi City Police, is all set to tour the State to spread the message of community policing. The 15th stage of the play was inaugurated by T.Vikram, Deputy City Police Commissioner, at Chavara Cultural Centre here on Tuesday.
Based on the concepts outlined by City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham, theatre person Anil Karette wrote and directed the play. It traces the evolution of Thampi, a local mischief to a goonda. Chorus pops in at critical points to point out how silence on the part of the society only breeds crime among them.
