For owners of plots up to 200 sq.m. in industrial areas Decision taken at MCD’s Standing Committee meeting NEW DELHI: To enable faster approval of layout plans for industrial areas, owners of plots measuring up to 200 sq. m. in the Capital’s industrial areas would now be able to get the building plans sanctioned without providing for parking space in the plots. The parking space can be utilised in the common parking area instead. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. As per the resolution passed by the committee, parking norms applicable in residential areas would be brought at par with industrial areas and the committee has also sought from the Centre amendment to the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 for the same. MCD Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta said: “In the past one year we have not been able to pass a single layout plan for industrial areas due to the condition of providing parking space in the plots. We hope that after removing this condition, more layout plans for industrial areas can be passed.” “Small plot owners in industrial areas were facing a lot of problems in providing parking in the basement. They claimed that it would not be possible to park a car in the basement which measures up to 100 or 200 sq. m. We have, therefore, sought amendment to the Master Plan ,” he added. Another amendment that the MCD has proposed to the Urban Development Ministry in both residential and industrial areas is that the parking space allowed on bigger plots should be according to the plot size and not according to the floor area ratio allowed. Mr. Gupta said: “If a plot measures 1,000 sq. m. and 40 per cent ground coverage is allowed on it, permission should be given to make parking according to plot size and not according to the amount of ground coverage allowed.”
