City taxi operators allege discrimination
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: Karnataka City Taxi Operators’ (Controllers) Association has said that injustice was being done to the local taxi operators by the Bengaluru International Airport authorities in the name of maintaining the international standard in taxi operations.
Association chairman T. Prabhakar told presspersons here on Thursday that the airport authorities had assigned the taxi operations system to private big companies such as Meru City taxi and Easy Cab.
The city taxi operators had been ignored and had not been provided with a slot for drop, pick up and parking facilities at the airport. “This caused inconvenience to city taxi operators. After dropping a passenger, the taxi has to return without a passenger from the airport,” he said.
Mr. Prabhakar said the association had brought their plight to the notice of the Chief Minister, THE Transport Minister and other officials concerned. He appealed to the Government not to issue further permits to Meru City Taxi and Easy Cab.
