Two persons arrested for cheating woman of over Rs. 1 crore

CHENNAI: Two persons who allegedly promised to arrange a loan and cheated a woman by taking Rs.1.13 crore as commission were taken into custody on Thursday.
According to the police, R.I. Jahir Hussain of Madurai and B.Vaidhyanathan of Puducherry approached N. Chitra of Halls Road here and offered to arrange loan to the tune of Rs.500 crore from one Mayaram for business activities. They took Rs.1.13 crore as commission out of which more than Rs.1 crore was given to Mayaram. The accused neither arranged the loan nor returned the commission. On a complaint lodged by Dr. Chitra, the Central Crime Branch police arrested Jahir Hussain and Vaidhyanathan. Mayaram was said to be absconding. The duo was produced in a city court and remanded in judicial custody.
