You need to move fast, officials told

Bangalore: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who will complete 100 days in office on September 9, on Thursday told senior bureaucrats to ensure that the implementation of all the programmes announced by him in the recent State Budget was under way by then.

Mr. Yeddyurappa, addressing a meeting of principal secretaries, secretaries and heads of departments at the Vidhana Soudha, said both new as well as ongoing projects such as Bhagyalakshmi and Sandhya Suraksha should make progress without loss of time.

Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao was present.

‘Get concurrence’

The Chief Minister said officials should get the concurrence of the Planning and Finance departments and bring proposals before the Cabinet, if necessary, and all formalities should be over before September 9.

Emphasis

Emphasis should be laid on schemes aimed at improving the living conditions of farmers, agricultural workers and poorer sections such as the Dalits, the Other Backward Classes and minorities, he said.

All the programmes and schemes announced in the first two budgets presented by him and in the latest budget should be implemented within a timeframe, so that they reached the targeted sections.

In order to ensure that this was done, it was important that the institutions that he had proposed in the budget be established.

He warned the officials that he would not tolerate any dilly-dallying on their part in executing the directions of the Government.
