NEW DELHI: Several delegations under the auspices of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti submitted memorandums to all seven members of the Lok Sabha from Delhi on Thursday to demand restoration of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. In the memorandum, the delegations demanded restoration of full autonomy for the Shrine Board, restoration of land to the Shrine Board, and recall of the State Governor. They also sought punishment for persons who had raised pro-Pakistan slogans and burnt Indian flags while protesting against the transfer of land to the Shrine Board, which was subsequently revoked. One of the delegations led by Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan met the MP from East Delhi, Sandeep Dikshit, and told him that the case of the Shrine Board was not only a case of J&K but had become an issue for the entire country. Urging Mr. Dikshit to apprise Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of public sentiments, Dr. Vardhan – who was accompanied among others by Anil Gupta and V.K. Jaggi of the RSS, Gurdeen Prasad of VHP and Lal Behari Tiwari and Sahab Singh Chauhan of the BJP -- cautioned that if this matter was not resolved immediately the unrest would spread to other parts of the country. Yet another delegation led by BJP leaders Ram Bhaj and Subhash Arya met South Delhi MP Vijay Kumar Malhotra to make similar demands.
