LONDON: A nurse from Tamil Nadu, who came to Britain barely three months ago, has been killed in a horrific hammer attack. Her husband, Anburaj Arjunan (31), has been charged with attempt to murder her and her mother. The Cambridge Crown Court on Monday remanded him to police custody. Chitradevi Chandran (31), who worked in a city hospital, was found with serious head injuries in her house in Peterborough, East England, on the morning of July 26 after neighbours heard screams and alerted the police. She was taken to a local hospital and later to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where she died two days later. Post mortem showed she died of head injuries. Her 56-year-old mother is in a serious condition in Addenbrooke’s Hospital after undergoing a major surgery for head injuries. Her condition was stated to be stable. Police declined to disclose details of Anburaj Arjunan’s background. The motive behind the attack is not known. On Thursday, police released the first picture of the victim.
