DAVANGERE: The grievances of nearly 600 people were redressed at the Jana Spandana programme organised by the Davangere district administration at Sarathi village in Harihar taluk on Friday. They were among the 3,091 people, who had submitted applications to the district administration for getting benefits under schemes meant for senior citizens (Sandhya Suraksha Yojana), women and people with physical disabilities. Addressing a gathering Deputy Commissioner of Davangere K. Amaranarayana said that officials had visited villages coming under four gram panchayaths recently to scrutinise applications and identify eligible beneficiaries. Mr. Amaranarayana said that of the 3,091 applications, 1,570 pertained to ration cards. Organising such programmes in remote villages was an effort to take the administration to people’s doorsteps, he said. Jana Spandana programme will be organised at Anaji village on August 12, Thoranagatta village in Jagalur on August 13, Tavarekere in Chennagiri taluk on August 14 and at Nazirnagar in Harpanahalli taluk on August 30. Earlier, addressing the gathering, Shivayogiswamy, MLC, and B.P. Harish, Harihar MLA, underscored the benefits of organising such programmes. Guthi Jambonath, CEO of Davangere Zilla Panchayath, and Sandip Patil, Superintendent of Police were present.
