Coal mine reopened

Daring operation: Rescue operators and miners entering R.K. Newtek mine to drain out water logged inside it.

ADILABAD: Coal production from the reopened RK Newtek mines at Ramakrishnapur area of Singareni Collieries is expected to start soon as the restoration work is going on in full speed. On August 6, the rescue operators commanded by Singareni Rescue Officer Baidya opened the closed mine. Subsequently, about 200 workers in the category of masons and other civil trades entered the mine the next day for restoration work. A report on the condition inside the mine will be taken into consideration before extraction of coal begins. Singareni Director (P and P) D.L.R. Prasad, Chief General Manager M. Shashi Kumar Reddy, General Manager K. Sugunakar Reddy, RG I Chief General Manager A. Manohar Rao and RG III General Manager Venkateswara Rao supervised the operations.
