PALAKKAD: Three second year students of C.M.S. College, Coimbatore, drowned in the Walayar dam near here on Friday. They had come on two motorbikes in the afternoon for a picnic, the police said. Their friend, Vishal, who reached the spot a little later, found one of them struggling in the water and raised an alarm. Local people rushed to save them, but in vain. The deceased were identified as Manoj Prabhakar, son of Janki Raman, PWD Quarters, Ooty; Sidharthan (19), son of Balakrishnan, Merry Hills, Ooty; and Kishore (19), son of Senthil, Police Quarter, Ooty. — Staff Reporter
