Record profit for Plantation Corporation

Thiruvananthapuram: The Plantation Corporation has made a record profit of Rs.13.87 crore during 2007-08. Its chairman T.J. Anjelose said after a board meeting of the corporation here on Thursday that it would now pay dividend to the government.
It was for the first time since its setting up in 1962 that the corporation was paying dividend to the government. The corporation had made a profit of Rs.11.40 crore during the previous year.
Mr. Anjelose stated that the salary and DA of rubber-tapping workers would be increased as recommended by the Plantation Labour Committee.
The salary of the employees too would be made equal to that of government employees.
