BERHAMPUR: Students of the Berhampur sports hostel also celebrated the inauguration of the Olympic Games in Beijing in a grand way. They used the inauguration ceremony to popularise sport in the city. Coach of the sports hostel, Sachindra Majhi said the budding sportspersons of the sports hostel did not want to miss out the grandness of the celebrations of the inaugural ceremony of the Olympic Games. In the large hall of the sports hostel arrangements were made to watch the inaugural session on a large screen on which the live telecast was projected. Big eventThe hall was decorated by a large golden cup having the flags of all the countries participating in this Olympic Games. The whole campus was decorated with artefacts made by the students with Olympic Games as the theme. It included a decorative Olympic symbol prepared from used tyres. All sportspersons of the city were invited to participate in this celebration, said Mr Majhi. They also had a large banner on their walls where everyone was free to write down the wish for the best performance of the Indian team in the Olympics. Thirtytwo students reside in this sports hostel. Ten of them are players of basketball, 12 are for volleyball and the rest ten are budding weightlifters. Sabyasachi Pradhan, a budding weightlifter of the sports hostel, who had played a major role in the preparations for this celebration said at least children loved their celebration and became anxious about the Olympics.
