CUTTACK: A juvenile designated court here on Friday granted bail to five children who were in conflict with law. The juveniles -- aged between 12 and 15 years -- booked under the charges of theft and burglary (Section 457 and 380 of IPC) were produced before the court by the city police. Considering the nature of the offence and the age of the children, the Cuttack chief judicial magistrate (CJM) granted them bail. According to the police, the children, all belonging to Purighat area had stolen valuables, including two cell phones, three wrist watches, one DVD player and some silver ornaments from the house of one Biswanath Das of local Bamphi Sahi. Following a complaint, police recovered the stolen items from the juveniles while they were trying to dispose the stolen items, said the Purighat police station inspector Sunil Mohanty. “Although, the children in conflict with law were booked under the sections of IPC, investigations, detentions and the procedure for their production before the court were done in accordance to Juvenile Justice Act”, Mr. Mohanty said.
