3 held, firearms seized

Trio was planning to extort money from businessmen at gunpoint
HYDERABAD: City Police on Friday arrested three persons and seized two country-made pistols and a ‘tapancha’ from them.
The trio was planning to extort money from businessmen at gunpoint claiming themselves as naxalites, the Commissioner’s Task Force DCP V.B. Kamalasan Reddy said.
The arrested were, G. Dhanunjay, who was allegedly involved in two murders and an attempt to murder case, M. Ram Gopal, a surrendered naxalite and N. Srinivasa Rao, an accused in a murder case. Gopal and Rao approached Dhanunjay seeking firearms claiming that they had threat to their lives from rivals.
Dhanunjay, in turn, introduced the duo to his acquaintance, Rajinder Reddy, working as supervisor of drilling machine at Madhya Pradesh.
Reddy arranged the firearms to the trio after receiving Rs. 60,000. On a tip-off, police caught the trio at Chilakalguda while it was planning for extortions at gunpoint.
