Expedite IT and Tidel Park construction work: Chamber

Staff Reporter

“Relax height restrictions on buildings”

“Convince Hyundai Motors to establish its next unit near Madurai”

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce has urged the State Government to convince the Korean auto-manufacturer Hyundai Motors to establish its next unit near Madurai.

The company, which is contemplating increasing its production to 10 lakh units from 7.30 lakh units, must be provided with all the necessary assistance for the purpose, chamber president S. Rethinavelu said in a statement.

A chamber delegation met Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi here on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum seeking more infrastructure facilities for southern districts. It also called for expediting the construction work of IT Park and Tidel Park in Madurai, for which the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone this April.

Work on these projects was yet to commence, it said.

The chamber called for relaxing the height restrictions on buildings. The State Government was also stressed upon to expeditiously acquire 2,400 acres at Tirumangalam near here for SIPCOT’s industrial estate.
