Chief Minister inaugurates week-long verification camp to issue provisional certificates

“The camp has been organised as a last step for regularisation of the 1,639 colonies”

Residents of nearly 250 illegal colonies have been requested to report daily for verification

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday inaugurated a week-long verification camp set up at Delhi Secretariat for issuing provisional regularisation certificates to the 1,639 unauthorised colonies in the Capital.

Camp till August 14

The camp will be on up to August 14 including Saturday and Sunday and the certificates would be issued this month.

Stating that her government was all set to issue reliable provisional regularisation certificate, which would state that the colonies have fulfilled all the requirements for regularisation, Ms. Dikshit said: “The camp has been organised as a last step for regularisation of the 1,639 colonies. The representatives of the colonies have been invited to the camp as per a schedule. They have been requested to cooperate in verification of their documents.

“Their deficiencies, if any, would be set right on the spot.”

According to an official release, residents of nearly 250 unauthorised colonies have been requested to report daily for verification as per their serial number in the list of colonies.

Five counters

Five separate counters have been made functional which would verify papers of 125 colonies in two separate sessions during the day.

Ms. Dikshit said her government was now taking concrete action to fulfil the aspirations of the residents of unauthorised colonies and 1,639 colonies were being regularised.

She also inspected various counters and interacted with representatives of the residents’ welfare associations representing the unauthorised colonies.

Urban Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan expressed confidence that the verification work would be completed soon as it was going on in a time-bound manner.

‘No chances’

“The Government is not taking any chances and has initiated developmental works simultaneously in almost all colonies,” he said.
