Robbers had pumped nine bullets into him; made away with Rs.1.34 lakh in cash A 9 mm and a .32 bore pistol, and a dozen live cartridges allegedly seized from them NEW DELHI: Three persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Nokia showroom employee during a broad daylight robbery on Vikas Marg here this past month. The accused have been identified as Yogesh Kumar, Arun Sharma and Hari Kishan. Their fourth accomplice, Deepak alias Bhola, is absconding. On July 8, Mahesh Kapoor was returning to the showroom after withdrawing money from the Preet Vihar branch of HDFC Bank when some men tried to snatch the bag containing cash. When he offered resistance, one of the robbers pumped nine bullets into him. The accused then made off with the bag containing Rs.1.34 lakh in cash. During investigation, four police teams sifted through the records of various criminals active in and around the Capital and conducted a detailed study of their modus operandi. Some gangs were short-listed and surveillance was mounted on them. On Thursday, a Special Staff team laid a trap on Pushta Road in the evening and flagged down two young men on a motorcycle. The pillion rider allegedly opened fire at the police team and the duo tried to flee. The two, later identified as Yogesh and Arun, were overpowered and arrested. A 9 mm and a .32 bore pistol, and a dozen live cartridges have allegedly been seized from them. The alleged gang leader, Hari Kishan, was arrested at Indraprastha metro railway station at their instance. “On the day of the incident, Arun and Bhola kept a watch on Mahesh Kapoor inside HDFC Bank and passed on information to Hari Kishan and Yogesh who were waiting outside. Hari and Yogesh then followed Mahesh and made off with the cash after killing him,” said a senior police officer. Yogesh of Bhajanpura is allegedly involved in over a dozen cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and snatching. Arun of Shahdara has eight cases of murder, attempt to murder and robbery registered against him. Hari Kishan, who also works for the Babloo gang on a contract basis, is involved in 10 criminal cases, the police said.
