Impersonation bid: man held

CHENNAI: One person who tried to impersonate as a police officer was arrested here on Friday.
Police said Rajan (55) of Choolaimedu approached revenue officials in the Sembium police station limits posing as a Deputy Superintendent of Police attached to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. He wanted copies of documents pertaining to a trust.
On suspicion, revenue staff alerted the local police who took Rajan into custody. Enquiries revealed that he tried to impersonate with an intention to procure the documents.
The accused was produced in a city court and remanded in judicial custody.
